I've written before about Rock Island's pedigree as a founding member of the National Football League. In fact, Douglas Park in Rock Island was the site of the very first NFL football game.

To mark our football heritage, Quad City Vintage Football will stage the 3rd Annual 1920's Vintage Football Game on October 15th.  Players will take the field as The Rock Island Independents -- a founding member team of the NFL -- and the Moline Universal Tractors.

The game will be played on the front lawn of the historic Hauberg Estate in Rock Island with 1920's equipment and rules.

Along with celebrating our football history, the game will raise money to restore Douglas Park in Rock Island.

Admission is free. You can find out more at Vintage American Football.

Here is some video from the 2015 game.
