Ahh, life, the great adventure, even if some days, you feel like your life just came straight out of the Twilight Zone!

I have to find humor in the things that happen to me in life. True, it may be a survival technique but it works for those FUBAR days when nothing seems to go the way it's supposed to. I had one of those days yesterday. From midnight to midnight, I had to look at my life from the third-person perspective and be thankful for life.

On top of my brother landing in the hospital for an emergency appendectomy, the new washer and dryer, while they look great, gave me a scare in the middle of the night. Actually, it was only the GAS dryer, which oddly, appliance companies will no longer install due to liability. That left me with a gas hose that didn't have the correct fitting and the exposure of an unconnected gas valve. It was shut off all the way but what we didn't know was that it leaked when not connected to the old dryer. Thankfully, I had a 'feeling' to replace the battery in my detectors the day of installation, because hours later, the alarms went off.

It was an ordeal and thankfully, the guy that showed up to help in the middle of the night was really cool and helped look out for the safety of my household! He changed out the old,  leaky valve and put in a new one. I got the dryer hooked up safely, with extra, double checking for leaks. He also went throughout the rest of the house and checked the water heater and furnace. Thankfully, my children weren't home that night. There is nothing like peace of mind when it comes to home safety.

Have you checked your home for carbon monoxide yet? It's odorless and the symptoms can range from headaches and flu-like symptoms to pressure in your brain, it feels like your head is going to explode! My issues may have only been exposure for a few hours in a house that was well-ventilated but others may not be so lucky and that is why I'm making you aware today. There is always a reason to be thankful and some days, you are thankful a little more. Yesterday was that day for me. As far as the Twilight Zone thing goes, there was a strange cat that made it's way in to the story of my weird night, too.

Told ya.
