I have weird hobbies. This is one of them. I tend to spend more time than I should watching trail cameras to see what wildlife ventures past. Not that long ago, an Iowa guy dropped a trail cam in the woods just to see what would happen. This is the result.

There's not much backstory to this. It's a simple premise that the guy explained in his short but sweet YouTube description:

I had a trail cam up for the last 4 or 5 weeks to see what walked past.

He shared this video last spring, but it doesn't look like many people have seen it. That means most people have active lives unlike me and don't have time to watch trail cameras. Let's change that now. See if you can count how many different species went by his cam.

Here's the abbreviated version of the animals I counted:

  • Pheasant
  • Raccoon
  • Coyote
  • Deer
  • Quail

Some deer hunters also recently dropped video of some large bucks they spotted on trail cams on public lands.

The one large guest you don't see on this trail cam is the bear which got famous last year in Clinton County.

Like I said, I have weird hobbies but I would argue there are worst ways to spend your time than watching wildlife that travel through our Iowa backcountry.
