I went to the final day of the John Deere Classic yesterday. I was hanging at the 16th hole, watching Zach Johnson lining up his 35 foot birdie putt.  All of a sudden we hear a HUGE explosion coming off the water. Everyone jumped, including Zach Johnson, and police were running to investigate. What was it?

Well, apparently, it was an air cannon. We didn't know that at the time and officials were scrambling to make sure everyone was safe. Thankfully, there was only the one big bang, but it startled all of us and gave Zach Johnson some serious air beneath his feet when he jumped. He played it cool after that and while he got his par out of there, he said in an interview that he would have liked to "hit a better first putt."

I got to see my friends from WQAD News Channel 8 and we finished off the big day cheering Jordan Spieth, this year's winner of the 2015 John Deere Classic.
