After being open for over a week, Whitewater Junction has new and extended swimming times for people wanting to enjoy the water park.

Whitewater Junction opened for the first time for the 2020 summer season on Saturday, June 27th. In Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan, the Illinois Department of Public Health released guidelines for aquatic centers and water parks to reopen. The guidelines all places like Whitewater Junction to be able to let the public enjoy the water park by making a reservation. This is to limit the number of people in Whitewater Junction.

According to a post on the city of Rock Island's website, Whitewater Junction will have all of their amenities open. Those amenities include the water slides, lunge chairs by the pool, and other features in the water park.

In the announcement on the city's website, Rock Island Parks and Recreation Director said,

“We are thrilled to finally open up our aquatic center for the community. This will be a different experience for our customers. There will be limited capacity so it will feel more like a private rental because there will be plenty of space and no long lines.”

Whitewater Junction has extended swimming hours and created time slots so staff can clean and limit the number of people in the park at a time. There are 3 times slots each day and customers can only enter the park if they have a reservation for that time slot.

According to the city's website, Whitewater Junction's new hours will be Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Time slots that can be reserved are as follows:

  • Monday - Friday
    • 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sunday and Holidays
    • 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Customers wanting to reserve a time slot at Whitewater Junction, they need to call (309) 732-7950 Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., or Saturday and Sunday from 8:45 a.m to 5:30 p.m., or reserve a time slot in person during those same times. Whitewater Junction will not accept online and social media reservations request.

A reservation is $9.00, and children two and under are free with paid adult. Customers may reserve separate time slots in the same day, but will charged $9.00 for each time slot reserved. All payments must be made at the time of entry into the facility. For more information on reservations, visit the city of Rock Island's website.

Reps from Whitewater Junction also said that punch passes and season passes will not be offered this year.
