You Can Spend the Night Inside a Remodeled Grain Bin Here in Iowa

Talk about a transformation.

When it comes to vacations, I love seeking out interesting Airbnbs to stay in instead of hotels. I've stayed in a couple of really nice ones in Nashville and Denver, but I have yet to spend the night at one here in Iowa. But, if I were to stay at one in our state, it would probably be this one!

This morning, I came across a recent article from Only in Your State titled, "This Charming Getaway In Le Mars, Iowa Used To Be A Grain Bin And An Antique Store." It looked like a cool place to visit, so I decided to do a little more research.

The Airbnb is called 'The Grain Bin Lodge and Retreat,' and it's located in Le Mars, which is over on the totally opposite side of the state. It's a little over a four hour drive from downtown Cedar Rapids. If you're not familiar with Le Mars, it's best known as the home of Blue Bunny Ice Cream.

The Grain Bin Lodge & Retreat is owned by Greg And Ronda, who are considered "Superhosts." That means that they are "experienced, highly rated hosts who are committed to providing great stays for guests." They have five stars thanks to 79 very positive reviews.

According to the Airbnb page, the building is a "30 foot diameter grain bin that has been converted into a rustic two story getaway using reclaimed barn wood and corn crib lumber. The bin is decorated entirely with antiques." Because of the antiques, the hosts do not allow kids under the age of 12. The space contains a full bath, a kitchenette, a living room area, a dining area with three tables, and a loft area with one full bed and two queen beds. Other amenities include central air conditioning, wi-fi, a smart TV, board games, and a record player. The bin is located on 10 acres of land, so guests will also be able to wander around outside, where there is an orchard, a fire pit, a garden, and a charcoal grill.
