Don’t Bundle Up Too Much In The Cold
The Quad Cities is under a Wind Chill Advisory for the next day or two.
We've all heard that in this type of extreme cold that we should layer up, but in an article in the Montreal Gazette, a researcher at the University of Ottawa says that layering could just make the problem worse.
Layers are good, but not too many. According to the researcher, too many layers could make you sweat, which can make regulating your body temperature even worse. Your body sweats to try to cool itself down, so having that happen when it is cold outside can just exacerbate the problem.
Overheating goes for boots too. The minute your gloves or boots get wet, you should take them off and let them dry.
It may seem to be contrary to what we've always been told, but being a little cold is actually a good idea.
