September Is Suicide Prevention Month In The Quad Cities
It’s a topic no one wants to talk about, but for so many in the Quad Cities, as well as across the U.S., it hits home like a wrecking ball.
There are many different resources in the Quad Cities, for those who struggle and feel there is no where else to turn.
In Iowa: In Iowa – Clinton, Muscatine and Scott Counties are served by Genesis’s crisis line, at (563) 421-2975.
In Illinois: In Illinois, the Quad City area is served by Robert Young Center’s crisis line at (309) 779-2999.
Nationally: 1-800-273 TALK (8255). And NAMI offers a texting option for people who are uncomfortable talking on the phone by texting “NAMI” to 741-741.
All are 24-7, 365. You never know who’s struggling. Could be someone standing right next to you. If you need help, say something.
This video is NSFW, but it’s a pretty powerful scene from “Pump Up The Volume.”
