If you haven't gotten all the back-to-school shopping done for your kiddos yet, or even want to start *gasp* Christmas shopping early, this weekend is the time to do it in Iowa!

I could kick myself! I knew it was coming. We all did. Tax-free weekend in IA. So many die-hard shoppers just wait for it each year. It's today and tomorrow only, so enjoy your trips to the stores to get the things you need, and likely things you don't need, all thanks to the extra savings.

The State of Iowa would like you to keep these things in consideration:

"Please Be Aware That...

  • This is an annual event on the first Friday and Saturday of August.
  • The holiday does not include Sunday.
  • Businesses that are open on these days are required to participate.
  • Businesses cannot advertise that they will pay or otherwise absorb the sales tax on items that don’t qualify.
  • When completing the tax return, list qualifying Sales Tax Holiday sales on the "exemptions" line."
