This was my favorite resale shop for many reasons.

Winnie's Wishes is a resale shop on Harrison Street, Davenport operated by Churches United. A recent Facebook post announced the shop is closing after 13 years.

This is sad for a few reasons. First, the shop helped fund Winnie's Place, a shelter for women who are homeless or survivors of domestic abuse.

Second, women needing professional clothing to wear for job interviews or new employment could go to Winnie's resale shop and get clothes for free to start a new career.

Third, it was a great place to shop to find unique clothes, jewelry, other gems you can only find in resale shops.

Fourth, (and selfishly) the shop is close to the radio station and conveniently located for me to drop off clothes and accessories I no longer needed.

They will be greatly missed. According to the Churches United social media post, economic factors impacted the decision to close.

The store is locate at 1605 Harrison Street. They're having a sale that starts today (Monday) July 20 through Friday, July 31. The store will close for good at the end of August.
